All About Side Effects Of Omega 3

The fatty acids are known for their incredible benefits on human health. Endless studies have proved their efficiency in preventing and fighting numerous diseases and medical conditions. There are few side effects of the omega 3 fish oil and you may have some problems if you are allergic to their components. However, this does not mean that you should go and take dozens of fish oil supplements per day.

Since the human body cannot naturally produce these fats which make up the omega 3, it is clear that including efa rich aliments in your diet is very important. As the world we live in is more and more polluted and we are bombarded with preservatives and chemicals, it is vital to bring some balance in our bodies. There are two ways you can increase your intake of these fats: through a proper diet or by taking supplements.

Fish are the richest sources of omega 3 fatty acids, but eating more fish will not ensure you a fatty acid richer diet. Because many fish come from polluted waters, their meat does not contain the proper amount of omega 3 acids and this means you have to look elsewhere to acquire it.

Medical studies have been conducted and all of them outlined that there are very few side effects of taking fish oils.

The supplements contain fish oil which is extracted from the tissues of the fish and among others, contain high levels of Vitamin D. Some problems may occur if you take too many such supplements, because you can get vitamin poisoning which may lead to toxicity within the body.

The risk of vitamin poisoning is higher if you take liver based fish oil. It is recommended to consume fish body oils. If the fish has been living in polluted water, the fish oil extracted from these fishes can lead to heavy metal poisoning. If the oil is not processed properly, it can contain high levels of metals, such as mercury, nickel or lead.

Specialists recommend taking supplements which have been processed using the so called “molecular distillation” process, as all the toxins in the fish oil are removed.

Some other minor side effects of taking omega 3 supplements in excess include diarrhea and foul breath. Always be sure you purchase these supplements from authorized sources.
