Here’s the burning question that MMA critics have been asking themselves since the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 74 took place on Saturday night: how does a 44 year old man continue to
perform at such a high performance level against younger competitors?

Truth be told, I’ve often wondered about that same question at times myself, but for a different reason that most of those MMA critics. Most of those MMA critics want to know how OG (older grappler) Randy Couture continues to deliver high-caliber performances, event-after-event, when they’re all ready to notice that he’s lost a step, take the opportunity to throw an H2O (He’s Too Old!) Bomb in his direction (again) and finally proclaim the end of his career (also again)!

Sometimes Happiness Comes From Embarrassing Situations

I’m not an early riser, never have been. I generally work late into the night and sleep later than most normal people. Consequently, I’m not at my best in the mornings. I wrote on Zoochblog about a recent weekend where I drove with friends from one end of Colorado to the other to participate in two separate bicycle races. The first was on Friday evening, a 7.2-mile time trial in Salida Colorado, 2.5 hours southwest of Denver, and the second was a 34-mile road race in Wray, 3.5 hours northeast of Denver at 7:30 am Sunday morning. Twelve hours of total travel time, whew!

Why People Hate Boxing

OK, hate is a strong word - but it’s clear that boxing is currently is currently low on people’s list of favorite sports. Some people will tell you that boxing is too violent, has too much corruption, and is too primitive to survive. I say that none of these explain boxing’s current state. Don’t let the recent Oscar De La Hoya-Floyd Mayweather, Jr. super fight fool you, the health of boxing still requires dire attention.
